Ushers have one of the most valuable and important tasks to perform in the worship service. It is up to the ushers to keep order, to help create a spirit of worship, reverence, and friendliness in and about the church. When the Church comes together to celebrate Mass, the Ushers are the first to greet the faithful and welcome them . The Ushers are the first to recognize any special need of the person and make sure those needs are met. They are the representatives of the church to the people who come to worship there. Visitors receive their first impression of the church from the ushers. Ushering is a great privilege and a sacred duty.
The safety and security of the faithful are a major concern of the Ushers during Mass. Any irregularities are to be noted by the Ushers and discussed amongst themselves of the appropriate action to be taken.
